Lesson Templates
Lesson templates allow you to streamline lesson creation by providing reusable starting points with predefined structures, settings, and branding elements. They are ideal for maintaining consistency across commonly repeated lesson types.
Overview
Templates are foundational blueprints that help speed up development and enforce structural and stylistic standards across your learning content. This feature is especially useful for organizations delivering multiple variants of similar training modules.
Requirements
- Access to the Lesson Templates interface
- Appropriate user role (typically Workspace Admin or Super Admin)
- At least one lesson created and configured as a base for a template
Creating Lesson Templates
Lesson templates can be created from existing lessons to act as reusable foundations.
Purpose
- Establish a consistent lesson layout
- Preconfigure elements such as:
- Pages, Articles, Blocks, and Components
- Branding and styling
- Theme, menu, and extension settings
- Placeholder content and media
Creation Access
- Only available to users with specific permissions
- Typically Workspace Admin or Super Admins
The specific process for creating templates (e.g., converting an existing lesson into a template or using a dedicated builder) may depend on your instance. Consult your Admin team or platform support if unsure.
Using Lesson Templates
Templates can be selected when initiating a new lesson:
- From the Dashboard, click
Template Courses. - Choose the course template that you would like to use.
- Select the cog icon in the top left corner of the Course tile
- Select Copy
- A copy of the course template will be made and added to your courses, ready to be edited.
Benefits
- Saves time
- Ensures instructional design consistency
- Promotes branding and accessibility best practices
Editing & Managing Templates
If you are a Workspace Admin or Super Admin you can open and edit Template Courses as you would any other course.
Any changes to template courses, particularly if midway through a project, can cause inconsistencies between the courses created before the changes and the courses created afterwards.
Management Capabilities
- View existing templates
- Edit template structure or configuration
- Delete obsolete or redundant templates
Limitations & Additional Information
While templates are referenced across multiple training modules, specific actions such as "save as template," permission boundaries, and editing workflow are not yet fully detailed. Further platform-specific documentation or support may be required to configure and deploy templates effectively.
By using lesson templates, instructional teams can accelerate lesson production, improve quality assurance, and simplify collaboration across teams working on similar training topics.
